  • LAA Catcher #14
O’Hoppe missed a couple of games with a contusion on his hand. He’ll hit hit fifth and be the starting catcher for the Halos against Mitch Keller and the Bucs.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #65
Gallegos failed to record an out while surrendering three earned runs on three hits in his last appearance, and it appears the shoulder played a factor in that struggle. He’ll miss the next two weeks at least, but it could be a longer stay based on what usually happens with shoulder injuries. Chris Raycroft is up to take Gallegos’ place on the roster.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #52
Clevinger will make the start for the White Sox on Monday against the Rays. The right-hander was only able to work 7 1/3 innings in his first two starts, and he may not be able to get deep enough to qualify for a a victory during his first time on the mound. Dominic Leone was placed on the 15-day injured list in the corresponding transaction.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #30
Fans and fantasy managers will have to wait yet another week, at least, before seeing Skenes make his MLB debut. The 21-year-old has made seven starts at Triple-A in 2024, posting a 0.99 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and 45/8 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings. The Pirates will, we assume, continue to lengthen him out in his starts until they feel comfortable enough that he can throw five or more innings in each start.
  • LAA Shortstop #2
Rengifo was originally penciled in at second base and hitting sixth in the order. However, he has been replaced by Brandon Drury. According to Jeff Fletcher of the SoCal News Group, Rengifo is no longer sick, so we’ll have to wait and hear the reason for him being replaced.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #22
Woo was impressive in his last start at Triple-A, throwing 66 pitches while averaging 95.7 mph on his fastball. He now has a 17-to-0 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 11 1/3 scoreless innings across his three rehab appearances with Tacoma, while allowing just five hits. However, Jude notes that “the team wants to see how Woo feels over the next couple of days before finalizing plans to activate him.” With Emerson Hancock set to make his start against the Twins on Tuesday, his turn in the rotation would come up again this weekend against Oakland, and Woo could be activated to take his place. He certainly looks ready and Jude confirms that, “The club does not plan to go with a six-man rotation and would prefer to keep Hancock stretched out in Triple-A, as opposed to keep him in the majors to pitch out of the bullpen.”
  • TB Center Fielder #22
Josh Lowe is starting in center field in his first game off the IL, but Jonny DeLuca will shift to center field and bat 9th. Both DeLuca and Siri are right-handed hitters and are facing a right-handed pitcher, so this seems like a sign that DeLuca could get a real shot to take the Rays’ center field job. Siri’s playing time had always been linked to his strong defense; however, DeLuca is also a strong defensive outfielder and might have more offensive upside. The Rays certainly like him since they made him part of the return from the Dodgers in the Tyler Glasnow trade this offseason. Now might be the time to stash DeLuca in deeper formats in case he wins this job.
  • CLE First Baseman #73
The move was reported last night, but it’s now official. Manzardo struggled in 2023 but has always been a prospect who figured to hit for a high batting average with 20-25 home run power at first base. He was off to a great start at Triple-A, hitting .303/.375/.642 with nine homers and 20 RBI through his first 29 games. He’ll start at DH and bat seventh in his MLB debut on Monday.
  • TB Right Fielder #15
Lowe began the season on the IL with an oblique injury and his return briefly delayed due to a hamstring injury, but he’s finally ready to join the Rays’ lineup. He went 4-for-17 (.235) with two homers after resuming his rehab assignment and will now attempt to duplicate (if not surpass) his breakout 2023 campaign.
  • SD Second Baseman #3
Rosenthal was quick to note that those talks “never advanced beyond the preliminary stage"; however, it’s interesting that the Royals even made the phone call because it tells us that the team is looking to capitalize on their fast start to the season which sees them just 2.5 games behind the Guardians in the AL Central. However, another interesting aspect of this is where the Royals may be looking to upgrade. Michael Massey has been pretty good at second base since coming off the IL and Vinnie Pasquantino is locked in at first base, so the Royals must have felt that Arraez could fill the DH spot, which means either Nelson Velazquez or Hunter Renfroe could be on notice in the midst of a slow start to the season.
