Reds sent TJ Friedl (wrist) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Louisville.

Two weeks ago, Reds manager David Bell said that Friedl could get a rehab assignment soon and the team are sticking to that timetable. Friedl fractured his right wrist during spring training, but there hasn’t been any setbacks in his recovery, so seeing him get some live reps is a positive sign. Friedl had his best season in 2023 where he had career-highs in almost every statistical category.

Reds sent LHP Alex Young on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Louisville.

This is good to hear after the team decided to transfer Young to the 60-day IL last week with his back injury. It’ll likely still be a month or so before the 30-year-old southpaw is back with Cincinnati, but it appears he’s progressing and the team is comfortable having him get some live reps at the minor league level.
Walker Buehler

LAD Starting Pitcher #21

Walker Buehler (elbow) is scheduled to make his season debut on Monday, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

It’s been about 20 months since Buehler has pitched in a major league game, but that will come to an end in just a few days. The 29-year-old hurler has been putting together multiple rehab stints to get ramped up for his return to the Dodgers. In his last outing, he allowed just one run across five innings and threw 75 pitches. This will be a big season for Buehler as he and the team have entertained the possibility of a contract extension in the past, but now it will be an important factor for the team as he enters free agency after 2024.
Alex Verdugo

NYY Center Fielder #24

Yankees activated OF Alex Verdugo from the paternity list.

Verdugo will return for the final game of a four-game series against Baltimore. The 27-year-old outfielder is on pace for his best OPS percentage since 2020 when he was with the Red Sox. He’s currently slashing .267/.358/.446 across 120 plate appearances this season.
Kyle Bradish

BAL Starting Pitcher #38

Orioles activated Kyle Bradish (elbow) from the 15-day injured list.

Bradish will get his first action on the bump this season against divisional rival New York in the final game of a four-game series. The 27-year-old right-hander has been on the injured list since the start of the regular season and comes back at a good time as the team had to place Grayson Rodriguez on the injured list on Wednesday. If he’s not already on a roster, fantasy managers should pick Bradish up as he can be a valuable starter in all formats.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto

LAD Starting Pitcher #18

Yoshinobu Yamamoto tossed six shutout innings with five strikeouts in a win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

That’s now back-to-back outings of six shutout frames and a win for Yamamoto. He worked around five hits and two walks, striking out five batters on 13 whiffs. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with an impressive 2.91 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 42/8 K/BB ratio across 34 innings. He’s in line for a start against the Marlins in Los Angeles next week.
Triston McKenzie

CLE Starting Pitcher #24

Triston McKenzie allowed two runs with six strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Wednesday.

McKenzie was outstanding against the Astros on Wednesday. He had allowed just one hit across five scoreless innings before a double and a base hit brought the first run in for Houston in the sixth. Kyle Tucker led off the seventh inning with a game-tying homer. McKenzie finished the inning with two strikeouts, giving him six on the day. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 4.34 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 24/18 K/BB ratio across 29 innings into a start against the Tigers in Cleveland on Monday.
Trevor Williams

WAS Starting Pitcher #32

Trevor Williams tossed five shutout innings with three strikeouts in a win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

Williams’ strong start to the season continued on Wednesday as he was able to keep a good Rangers lineup scoreless across five frames. He worked around plenty of traffic on the bases, giving up five hits and four walks while striking out three. The 32-year-old right-hander will take a 2.27 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 22/12 K/BB ratio across 31 2/3 innings into a home start against the Orioles next week.
Shota Imanaga

CHC Starting Pitcher #18

Shota Imanaga tossed seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts in a win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Imanaga continues his impressive debut in the majors, making his best start yet on Wednesday with seven shutout frames against the Mets. He worked around three hits and one walk, generating 15 whiffs to strike out seven. The 30-year-old left-hander lowers his ERA to a microscopic 0.78 with a 0.75 WHIP and a 35/4 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings. He lines up for a start against the Padres in Chicago on Monday.
Roddery Munoz

MIA Starting Pitcher #71

Roddery Muñoz picked up his first career victory in impressive fashion on Wednesday night, piling up seven strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball against the Rockies.

The 24-year-old rookie right-hander allowed just three hits and a pair of walks on the night. The lone tally against him came on an RBI ground out off the bat of Elias Diaz in the sixth inning. Aside from that, he was in complete command. Muñoz generated 12 swings and misses on 82 pitches on the night — half of those on his cutter — while posting a strong CSW of 30 percent. The Marlins have to give him another opportunity to start next week, though he’ll draw a difficult matchup having to take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles. For fantasy managers who are into streaming pitchers weekly, a two-step that goes at the Dodgers and vs. the Phillies is about as volatile as it gets.
